Conclusions from the Coordination Meeting of Plum and Other Fruit Producers and Exporters in BiH

Following the coordination meeting held in Gradačac, representatives of relevant ministries, producers, and exporters have reached a consensus on the urgent actions needed to protect the Bosnian agricultural sector from EU protective pricing measures.

The meeting resulted in a set of key conclusions aimed at stabilizing the fruit export market and minimizing losses for local producers during peak harvest seasons.

Key Conclusions and Actions

  • State-Level Advocacy: A formal request will be submitted to the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Trade to urgently initiate negotiations with the European Commission regarding the removal of seasonal protective prices.
  • Market Transparency: Establishing a better monitoring system for export prices to avoid triggering EU's special taxes.
  • Loss Mitigation: Exploring state and entity-level support mechanisms for exporters who have suffered financial losses due to existing trade barriers.
