Invitation: Coordination Meeting of Plum Producers and Exporters in BiH
Despite the Free Trade Agreement within the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), producers and exporters from Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to face protective pricing barriers imposed by Brussels on fruit exports.
According to the Decision of the European Commission (No. D0474/08), the European Union applies protective pricing systems. Specifically, for plums, if the price of fresh plums drops below 69.5 EUR per 100 kg, special taxes are introduced, the burden of which usually falls on BiH exporters. Similar measures exist for apples, apricots, peaches, and cherries.
Organizers
In response to these challenges, a coordination meeting is being organized by:
- PMG ViP Gradačac (Agricultural Cooperative)
- RC ARGONET (Banja Luka)
- Group of Plum Exporters in BiH (Tuzla Chamber of Commerce)
Meeting Goals
The primary objective of this meeting is to initiate a formal procedure to request the removal of these measures, which cause significant economic damage to the agricultural sector and the national economy.
The meeting will take place at the Gradačac Fair premises, bringing together representatives from state ministries, entity agricultural departments, international organizations, and the media to form a unified front against these trade barriers.
